چکیده
The undesirable prospect of increasing congestion un the nation'sairways has caused attention to be focused more and more on terminalareas. Two distinct efforts to improve traffic flow have been studiedelsewhere. One, by means of careful control of aircraft separationalong flight paths leading to the terminal, runways attempts to reduceflow variability, while the other attempts to reduce service timeson the runways by the use of high speed exit taxiways. Within thispaper, a Monte Carlo simulation is proposed in order to discoverrelations between error of control and traffic flow for optimallylocated exits on a runway used exclusively for landing. The simulationprocess is discussed at length and an expression is found for minimumsample size with stated confidence level.

Extended Geometric Processes: Semiparametric Estimation and Application to ReliabilityImperfect repair, Markov renewal equation, replacement policy
Lam (2007) introduces a generalization of renewal processes named Geometric processes, where inter-arrival times are independent and identically distributed up to a multiplicative scale parameter, in a geometric fashion. We here envision a more general scaling, not necessar- ily geometric. The corresponding counting process is named Extended Geometric Process (EGP). Semiparametric estimates are...
متن کاملSegregating event streams and noise with a Markov renewal process model
We describe an inference task in which a set of timestamped event observations must be clustered into an unknown number of temporal sequences with independent and varying rates of observations. Various existing approaches to multi-object tracking assume a fixed number of sources and/or a fixed observation rate; we develop an approach to inferring structure in timestamped data produced by a mixt...
متن کاملMarkov chain Monte Carlo for continuous-time discrete-state systems
A variety of phenomena are best described using dynamical models which operate on a discrete state space and in continuous time. Examples include Markov (and semiMarkov) jump processes, continuous-time Bayesian networks, renewal processes and other point processes. These continuous-time, discrete-state models are ideal building blocks for Bayesian models in fields such as systems biology, genet...
متن کاملStructure and Randomness of Continuous-Time Discrete-Event Processes
Loosely speaking, the Shannon entropy rate is used to gauge a stochastic process’ intrinsic randomness; the statistical complexity gives the cost of predicting the process. We calculate, for the first time, the entropy rate and statistical complexity of stochastic processes generated by finite unifilar hidden semi-Markov models—memoryful, state-dependent versions of renewal processes. Calculati...
متن کاملFailure correlation in software reliability models
Perhaps the most stringent restriction that is present in most software reliability models is the assumption of independence among successive software failures. Our research was motivated by the fact that although there are practical situations in which this assumption could be easily violated, much of the published literature on software reliability modeling does not seriously address this iss...
متن کاملDiffusion Approximations of the Geometric Markov Renewal Processes and Option Price Formulas
We consider the geometric Markov renewal processes as a model for a security market and study this processes in a diffusion approximation scheme. Weak convergence analysis and rates of convergence of ergodic geometric Markov renewal processes in diffusion scheme are presented. We present European call option pricing formulas in the case of ergodic, double-averaged, and merged diffusion geometri...
